Although some of the studies on renal artery Doppler have shown an association with amniotic fluid volume, this finding has not been uniformly obtained.
Doppler studies of fetal vessels have, on the other hand, produced mixed results in postdate pregnancies. Doppler assessments of the maternal circulation have consistently failed to show an association with adverse postdate pregnancy outcomes. Studies have interrogated both the maternal and fetal vasculatures. Doppler velocimetry has been evaluated as a potential tool for elucidating the pathophysiology and for clinical monitoring of such pregnancies. Postdate pregnancy is associated with an increase in perinatal morbidity and mortality, and specific factor(s) for this increase have not yet been established.
